Waterfalls and Walks

There are many walking options and plenty of waterfalls to view while you are in the Apollo Bay area.
Please remember to take your rubbish with you and leave the environment as you found it so others can enjoy.

Melba Gully

30 minute return
A walk through a gully of blackwood, mrytle beach and tree ferns. Here you can see the "Big Tree" which is around 200 years old and see the glowworms as they line the path at night.

Maits Rest

30 minute return walk
Located about 17 kms from Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road.
It features a rain forrest walk and a 300 year old Mytle Beach tree which has been registered by the National Trust. A great walk for everyone and you can see the glow worms at night if you are luck.
Ask at the Tourist Information Centre about the glow worm tours.

Marriners Falls

Past Paradise at the end of the Barham Valley Road.
You must go through the fence and follow the track to the falls.
You will have to cross a number of creeks so bring you water proof footware with you.
This is a medium walk of about 40 minutes return.

Marriners Lookout

Spectacular views of Apollo Bay from this walk which is approx 30 minutes return.
It is a fairly steep walk but the track is well worn.

1.5 kms from Apollo Bay (towards Lorne).

Beauchamp Falls

Toilets, picnic tables and wood fireplaces make a great base to start or finnish your walk.
The walk itself is steep towards the end but the crashing falls and giant mountain ash forrest make the effort worth while.

Hopetoun Falls

Off the Aire Valley Road these falls are at the base of a steep walk through thick tree ferns and the soung of the roaring falls long before you reach them.
You can hear the falls from the viewing platform near the car parking area.

Please check local conditions before departing.
